Hatch Mounting - 09/05/2001

MVC-402F.JPG (46813 bytes) This picture shows the mounting brackets for the hatch.  I had to remove about 1.5" of the sides to accommodate the switch harnesses.
MVC-405F.JPG (40488 bytes) This picture shows the front of the hatch.  I had to remove the lower section to accommodate the triangle stock that I had glued behind F1 to hold the engine box top plate.  The 4 holes are recess holes to accommodate the 4-40 bolt heads that hold the cowl in place.
MVC-406F.JPG (71415 bytes) The Goebel instrument panel.
MVC-417F.JPG (54793 bytes) Mr. 3D Pilot Guy sitting in the recessed area I made in the hatch.  This picture is pre-bumping his microphone boom out of place....
MVC-418F.JPG (59242 bytes) Another view of "Mr. Intensity".  Looks kinda like me in my younger days (about 100 years ago).
MVC-419F.JPG (53123 bytes) The canopy "dry-fitted".  I think the pilot bust proportions look ok.
MVC-420F.JPG (53036 bytes) Everything taped in place while the Wellbond dries.  Amazing how quickly it dries while you are trying to position the canopy, and how slow it dries while you are waiting for the excess that squeezed out in the canopy to turn clear to see if it looks disastrous.....
MVC-428F.JPG (76154 bytes) The mounted canopy.  A strip of Ultracote to seal it to the hatch and we will be through with this task.
