Those that braved the weather. Larry with his favorite plane. Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil, Do no Evil or The Three Musketeers or Pick the smartest guy of the three, answer, the guy in the middle cause he didn't buy one of those lousy Pigs This guy smiled once but no one can remember that long ago. Andrew was coming my way, I think it was time to move.

2nd Annual Float Fly Event, on July 16th

Rain was forecasted for the day, but luckily only clouds accumulated to provide some heat relief. We could not have had a better day for flying.  The water was very calm and the beach was clear. It wasn't until we were all packed up to leave in the late afternoon, before we experienced any rain.

Throughout the day over 16 pilots participated from various clubs with approximately 50 spectators in attendance.  Scott Durham and Scott Stockwell made tasty hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch at noon.  Throughout the afternoon, we raffled off several items purchased at Mike's Hobby Shop.  Highlights of the raffles included a .20 size float kit from Great Planes, a .61 size 2-stroke engine by Thunder Tiger, and the grand Prize was a .40 size Hangar 9 Twist ARF.  The ARF was won Woody Woods. Thanks to Mike's Hobby Shop for his support.

Thanks for all those that assisted with making this event a great success.  Special thanks goes out to Larry Mowatt (Pre-site setup and mowing), Scott Durham (Concession stand setup),  Scott Stockwell (Cook), Ed Terrell (provided 4-wheelers and trailer), Alan Delger (provided retrieval boat), Alan Buckner (provided mobile Frequency checkout station), Norman Glowicz (Assisted with the Sign-In Station), and Morse Fenner (Impound station attendant). And thanks to Travis Olander for coordinating the event, helping on the site prep, set up on Saturday morning, and clean up.

Devin Casey was awarded his Pilot Certificate (see photo by clicking below) by Larry Mowatt with his proud father standing by. Devin was trained by Scott Durham. Good work Scott.

We look forward to another successful float fly event next year!
